Aston Villa supporters react on Twitter to striker speculation

Ross McCormack has four weeks to save his career at Aston Villa – and fans on Twitter have provided mixed views.

The Daily Mail claim the Scotland international is in a race against time to convince manager Steve Bruce that he should be part of his long-term plans.

It is said that Bruce “has designs on bringing in another forward in January” even though Villa already have an array of senior attackers in their ranks including Jonathan Kodjia, Rudy Gestede, Jordan Ayew, Gabriel Agbonlahor and McCormack.

Certain sections of the support stated that if the much criticised Agbonlahor is given a chance, and McCormack isn’t, then you would have to question Bruce’s thinking.

While another fan was adamant that McCormack will not score 20 goals for the club, like he did for a struggling Fulham side last season, prior to his £12 million summer transfer.

Furthermore, one supporter predicted that attacking trio McCormack, Gestede and Libor Kozak will leave in January. And Premier League duo Jordan Rhodes and Abel Hernandez will move the other way.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

McCormack has scored two goals in 13 Championship games since moving to Villa Park and he has not found the back of the net since September.

Promotion expert Bruce took charge of the Midlands club in October, when Roberto Di Matteo was sacked as boss.

Prior to their loss against play-off hopefuls Leeds at the weekend, Villa were unbeaten in seven games under the former Manchester United captain.

They will now look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season on home soil, when they host newly-promoted Wigan on Saturday afternoon.
