Aston Villa tipped to sign powerhouse striker after confirmed news – Agbonlahor

Aston Villa will turn their attention to signing a powerhouse striker after completing the loan signing of Ludwig Augustinsson, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed Steven Gerrard needs to sign a striker in a different mould to Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings.

Villa confirmed last week (11 July) that Augustinsson has completed a season-long loan move from Sevilla.

The Athletic reported the same day they have paid a £500,000 loan fee to take the left-back and it could become a permanent move at the end of the 2022-23 season.

Asked where Villa should go next in the transfer market, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “With the defence and goalkeepers, Aston Villa are looking really good.

“In midfield as well with Douglas Luiz, [John] McGinn, [Jacob] Ramsey, [Boubacar] Kamara and [Marvelous] Nakamba they’ve got good depth in midfield. With Morgan Sanson as well.

“Going forward, Leon Bailey, [Philippe] Coutinho and [Emiliano] Buendia – they are looking very promising going forward.

“If there’s one more player that Villa could get now, it would be a striker.

“But only if they are totally a different style to what they’ve already got now. Can it be someone who is a bit bigger physically who can hold the ball up but has still got a yard of pace?

“It’s a difficult striker to search for, there are not many of them out there. I don’t think Gerrard will bring one in for the sake of it. If he doesn’t feel that striker is available then I don’t think he will bring one in.”
