Aston Villa tipped to sign ‘top target’ this month after Sky’s update – Hutton
Alan Hutton has suggested Aston Villa will continue to bring in their “top targets” this month regardless of player exits.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa defender insisted Steven Gerrard would want new recruits on board for the club’s pre-season trip to Australia in July.
As reported by Sky Sports on Thursday (2 June), Villa are still planning to continue their spending spree on new signings after completing three deals already.

The report claims Villa also have a big focus on offloading fringe players like Trezeguet, Anwar El Ghazi, Bertrand Traore and Morgan Sanson.
However, Hutton suggested Villa will not stop making new signings despite a potentially bloated squad.
Asked whether he thought Gerrard would be focused on signing more players or getting others off the books, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think they’ll be doing both at this moment in time.
“They obviously fringe players out in my opinion. They’re heavily stacked in forward wide areas when you think of guys like El Ghazi, Trezeguet, Traore. You’ve got Sanson too.
“So I think they will be trying to move them on if I’m brutally honest. At the same time, it’s about bringing in their top targets. They’ll have a list of players they want to bring in and they’ll want to do it as soon as possible.

“The thing with the owners are they’re willing to back the manager. We’ve seen that. I don’t think they’ll be scared of bringing players in before they try move others out.
“It’s going to be a really interesting summer. I think they go away to Australia in July. They’ll obviously want to be getting all their top targets in before then.”
