Aston Villa to green light major departure after manager latest – pundit
Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard will not stand in the way of assistant boss Michael Beale if he wants to take up the managerial vacancy at Charlton Athletic, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
The former Claret and Blue striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 41-year-old will be tempted by a potential exit.
As per the South London Press (16 May), Beale is in the running to become the new manager of Charlton Athletic.

As quoted by BirminghamLive (19 May), Gerrard insisted it is “no surprise” to hear of interest in his right-hand man.
The Villa boss said Beale is “very highly thought of in the world of football”.
Agbonlahor claimed the 41-year-old will be “seriously thinking” about taking the role despite Gerrard’s kind words.
“If it’s a manager job, he will be tempted,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“Quite a lot of coaches end up wanting to have a crack at management. Look at John Terry, he wants to be a manager.
“If it’s his goal then I’m sure he’ll take the job. Steven Gerrard won’t stand in his way, either.
“I’m sure if he wants to be the main man and make his mark somewhere, he’ll be seriously thinking about taking the job. Charlton are a good club.”

Beale worked together with Gerrard during his first role in Liverpool’s academy before following him to Rangers in 2018.
Aston Villa sit 14th in the Premier League and face league leaders Man City on the final day (22 May).
