Aston Villa to lose Danny Ings for ‘next to nothing’ after multiple updates – pundit

Aston Villa could sell Danny Ings for “next to nothing” if Unai Emery doesn’t want him at the club.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the striker’s future.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Dominic King (4 January), Everton have had a bid to sign Ings on loan rejected by Aston Villa.

According to the Sun (7 January), Crystal Palace are also interested in the 30-year-old and are on high alert given his recent lack of game time at under Emery.

The Midlands club would apparently only let the striker leave on a permanent deal.

McManus claims Ings is unlikely to be at Villa by the start of February.

“When a new manager comes in, a new broom sweeps clean,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“If Emery doesn’t want him there, which is what it sounds like, then he won’t be there in a few weeks’ time.

“Whether that means you have to sell him for next to nothing to get rid of him, that’s one for the club.

“He’s a top striker but maybe he hasn’t had a fair crack of the whip since he joined the club a few years ago.

“He could be a very valuable player for those teams around the bottom of the table, it’s just whether Villa would sell to a rival.

“It’s up to Emery really. If he wants to be rid then we will see him go, it’s that simple.”

Ings has made 17 total appearances for Aston Villa this season though only eight of those have been starts.

He has scored six goals in those outings.
