Aston Villa told to appoint Sean Dyche after club source’s reveal today – pundit

Aston Villa should appoint Sean Dyche as their new manager after sacking Steven Gerrard.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Villa’s next manager.

On Thursday (20 October), Aston Villa sacked Gerrard following a 3-0 defeat to Fulham.

Football Insider reveal (22 October) that Brentford are braced for an approach from Villa for Thomas Frank, and, as revealed by our sources on Monday, the club also have an interest in Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.

However, McManus insists Dyche, who has been out of work since being sacked by Burnley in April, would be a better choice.

“It’s always a risk when you bring foreign managers into the Premier League,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“I know Wolves have had a succession of Portuguese managers, some successful some not. There are decent British managers, Sean Dyche did a sensational job at Burnley.

“I think he will be sitting, waiting on a club like Aston Villa or Leicester. Whether Villa fans would like the style of football Dyche plays, I don’t know.

“Certainly, in terms of results, he has proven he can do the job.”

Dyche spent ten years at Burnley between 2012 and 2022, taking charge of 425 games.

They are next in action against Newcastle United on Saturday (29 October).
