Aston Villa will rocket up Premier League after source’s ‘huge’ Unai Emery reveal today – pundit
Aston Villa will rocket up the Premier League table following the “huge” news today that Unai Emery will be backed to the hilt in January.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On Monday (24 October), Aston Villa confirmed the appointment of Emery from Villarreal.
Sources told Football Insider on 27 October that Villa’s owners are ready to hand their new manager a “huge” transfer kitty ahead of the January window.
The latest from our Villa source today is that further talks have taken place in the last 48 hours among the club’s recruitment team and Emery about potential targets.
This comes after a poor start to the season that sees the club sitting in 15th place after 12 games.
Wenham insists Villa could not have appointed a better manager.
“Huge, huge coup for Aston Villa. I think he is a real, European pedigree manager,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He was courted quite publically by Newcastle United last season but he chose to stay at Villarreal on that occasion.
“Villa have done very well to attract a manager of that calibre. I actually think he is the biggest calibre of manager they have attracted since Gerard Houllier.
“It’s a real big name, statement manager. If he adds one or two players that he knows well from Villarreal then they could build something good this season.
“They have a lot of unearthed talent in there, some good, young, English players in there. They have a great support, a great stadium and I think they could really improve their position very, very quickly.
“They will back him, I’m sure. That will get them even higher up after the World Cup.”

Villa are next in action against Newcastle United on Saturday (29 October).
Emery will not be able to take charge of the game due to work permit issues.
