Aston Villa will ‘spend big’ in January after source’s unprecedented reveal – Hutton

Alan Hutton has backed Aston Villa to “spend big” in January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa defender insisted the board will back Unai Emery in the winter window.

On 16 December, sources told this site that the Villans are set to announce a profit for the 2021-22 financial year.

The accounts are due for release in February and highlight the club’s best set of financial results in recent years and first profit under the ownership of Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris.

On 27 October, this site revealed that new boss Emery is set to be handed a “huge” January transfer kitty to strengthen the squad.

Hutton insisted that the news of a profit guarantees new signings in January.

I think with the owners that are in charge at the moment they are always willing to spend big,” he told Football Insider.

It is just making sure you do it at the right time and make sure everything is in order.

All the players that they have been bringing in have been offset by the Jack Grealish money. Now they are probably seeing a profit.

There is an opportunity for the new manager in January to go and spend. It is a bit of a bloated squad in areas so they might need to get people out as well but I think they will definitely back him.
