Aston Villa told '£50m' Antonio Nusa offer could be accepted
RB Leipzig have placed a minimum £50million asking price on Antonio Nusa amid interest from Aston Villa, sources have told Football Insider.
The 21-year-old has attracted interest from clubs across Europe after his impresisve dispaly for Norway at the World Cup, and his club are now bracing to receive offers.
However, RB Leipzig are reluctant to see the winger move on, and have set a huge price tag in an attempt to deter interest, with Aston Villa one of a number of interested clubs.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are all interested in signing Nusa.
Despite an impressive display after coming off the bench, he was unable to make a difference as England knocked Norway out of the World Cup and progressed to the semi-final.
However, after a number of impressive performances in the USA, there is no shortage of clubs looking to lure him away, although it will take a significant fee to land Nusa.
Could Aston Villa make a move to sign Antonio Nusa?
Football Insider revealed on 10 July that Aston Villa are prepared to intensify their pursuit of Nusa after keeping a close eye on his recent performances.
Norway's elimination from the World Cup could open the door for clubs to make a move, and while Leipzig remain reluctant to see him leave, he could move for the right price.
A £50million price tag may prove prohibitive for Aston Villa given their financial concerns, but interest from rival clubs could see the winger lured elsewhere.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "There’ll be a host of Premier League clubs who would be interested in Antonio Nusa. His World Cup displays have attracted growing interest in him.
"Tottenham are interested in him as they look to bring a left-sided attacker. Arsenal are also in the market for a left-sided attacker. As you said, Palace are long-term admirers.
"Aston Villa and Newcastle are both believed to be keeping tabs on the situation, so look, he’s having a good World Cup but RB Leipzig don't really want to lose him.
"If they are to let him leave, it would take a huge fee for him as well. You're probably looking in excess of £50million considering what Nusa has done at the World Cup.
"You've got a number of clubs in Italy, the likes of AC Milan, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, and others are all looking at the Norwegian as well.
"Leipzig are in a strong position due to his contract situation and they're under no immediate pressure to sell.
"But if he continues to shine like he has done for Norway at the World Cup I'm sure they'll be bracing themselves for offers."
Who else is interested in signing Nusa this summer?
Aston Villa are far from the only club interested in signing Nusa this summer, with as many as eight clubs from across Europe keeping tabs on his performances.
In the Premier League, Newcastle, Arsenal and Tottenham have been backed to join the race, while a number of European clubs are keen to lure him away.
Meanwhile, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace could join the race for Nusa and are big admirers after missing out in 2024.
The winger was originally targeted as a direct replacement for Michael Olise before his move to Leipzig, and should he become available, they could reignite their interest.
Given the level of interest in his signature, Leipzig will be bracing for offers, but they remain steadfast in their resolve and it will take a significant bid to get a deal done.
