Chelsea's 'internal response' to Alejandro Garnacho deal revealed after Aston Villa twist

Chelsea chiefs have been left "delighted" after their agreement to ship Alejandro Garnacho to Aston Villa in the summer.

The 22-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge following a difficult first season after his move from Man United, and his value has plumetted.

However, after Aston Villa's offer to take the winger on loan for the season and pay his wages in full alongside a loan fee and option to buy, the Blues couldn't believe their luck.

Former Aston Villa scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Chelsea were prepared to cut their losses on Garnacho until they received the big offer from Villa Park.

Meanwhile, Unai Emery has since hinted that Villa are prepared to make the winger's stay permanent by triggering his £43million option to buy in a further boost to Chelsea.

Garnacho has endured a difficult start at Aston Villa, and was left out of their League Cup win against Coventry in midweek, but Emery explained he will be there for "a long time".

Will Aston Villa sign Alejandro Garnacho permanently?

Brown told Football Insider on 15 September that Aston Villa are planning to make Garnacho's move from Chelsea permanent despite his slow start to his loan spell.

Just one year after his move from Man United to Chelsea, the Blues were keen to see Garnacho move on, but the money involved in his move to Villa Park has raised concerns.

Chelsea spent £40million to land Garnacho from Man United in the first place, and the opportunity to make their money back and more has delighted their transfer team.

"Chelsea will be delighted with the deal they've done for Alejandro Garnacho," Brown told Football Insider.

"I bet they couldn't believe their luck when that offer from Aston Villa came in, because from what I'm told, Chelsea were prepared to cut their losses after a poor season.

"He was not wanted on voyage at Stamford Bridge, they were going to have to let him go otherwise he would be sat in the stands all year.

"All of a sudden this offer comes in from Aston Villa, they're paying his full wages, paying to take him on loan, and it looks like they're going to pay £43million for him.

"Chelsea will be laughing, even they won't know how they've managed to make a profit on him after the year he's had, and I was surprisd to Aston Villa make a move in the first place."

How much are Aston Villa paying for Garnacho?

Chelsea's delight at seeing Garnacho join Aston Villa was in part due to shifting a player who was not part of their plans, but also due to the finances involved in the deal.

Regardless of his £43million option to buy, which would ensure they made a profit, Villa are also believed to be handling other fees which will be a boost to Chelsea.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Aston Villa will be paying a loan fee likely worth at least £5million to take Garnacho for the season.

They will also cover his lofty wage packet which is believed to be upwards of £100,000 per week after he penned a big contract with Chelsea last summer.

Those finances are not believed to be a concern for Aston Villa, who were happy to pay and take the winger, but Chelsea have benefited just as much.
