Aston Villa’s Marcus Rashford responds with new message after Thomas Tuchel battering
Marcus Rashford remained positive in his latest message despite facing criticism from Thomas Tuchel following his England performance against Albania.
Thomas Tuchel secured victory in his first match as England manager with a 2-0 win at Wembley on 21 March.
18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly marked his debut with a goal, making history as the youngest player to score on his England debut, surpassing Rashford’s record from 2016.
Harry Kane also found the net, notching his 70th international goal to further extend his status as England’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Rashford was given his first start for the national team since November 2023 following his impressive displays for Aston Villa since joining on loan.
However, Rashford had a poor performance and failed to impress, with Tuchel leaving a blunt assessment after the match.
Thomas Tuchel demands more from Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden after England win
Tuchel gave an honest review of his first match in charge, making it clear he expected more from his wide players after being left unimpressed with both Rashford and Phil Foden.
The German said in his post-match press conference: “Both our wingers who started were not as impactful as they can be in club football. I’m not so sure why we struggled to bring the ball quickly to them.
“We lacked runs off the ball. It was a little bit too much passing, not enough dribbling, not aggressive enough towards goal.”
However, Rashford remained positive on social media after his re-call back into the squad, saying in an Instagram caption: “It felt so good to be back with the boys! A solid start to the qualifiers with a lot more to come”.
His post received plenty of support from teammates, with Jude Bellingham commenting: “He’s back”, while Aston Villa teammate Morgan Rogers added: “Things you love to see”.
On the other hand, Foden faced heavy criticism from England fans, with many calling for him to be dropped after his lacklustre display.

Man United raise Marcus Rashford’s price tag amid Aston Villa form
Rashford’s club form has been a different story, as he continues to shine for Villa since joining on loan.
Aston Villa fans have been pushing for the club to sign Rashford permanently, especially after he has already built a strong partnership with fellow loanee Marco Asensio.
However, Football Insider revealed Manchester United have now increased their asking price for Rashford following his England call-up, knowing Villa are tempted to make a move.
It’s clear Unai Emery is keen to keep him at Villa Park, but if Rashford wants to be part of Tuchel’s plans for the national team, his performances for England must improve.
