‘At long last’, ‘Outstanding’ – Rangers fans react to huge announcement from Ibrox giants
Rangers have announced they will be slashing Celtic’s ticket allocation for Old Firm games by moving them to the corner between the Broomloan Road and Sandy Jardine stands – and Gers fans are absolutely loving the news.
After confirming record season ticket renewals of over 40,000 on their official Twitter account, the Ibrox giants revealed that all away fans would be given the same area – Celtic have traditionally been given the entire Broomloan Road stand meaning the will lose around 5,500 tickets and see their allocation drop to around 800.
Gers fans have long wanted Celtic’s ticket numbers massively reduced and are delighted that the Light Blues have finally cut the number of Hoops fans who will able to attend – with one fans saying it was “about time.”
Here are some of their comments on Twitter:
Celtic will almost certainly respond in kind and cut the Gers’ allocation for trips to Celtic Park but the move has won widespread approval from Gers fans – as well as showing a remarkable level of support with over 40,000 fans renewing their season tickets despite the Light Blues suffering their worst home results in the league in over a century.
The Gers fans won’t have long to wait to see Steven Gerrard’s side in action with the Gers kicking off their season on July 12th when they start their Europa League qualifying campaign.
