Aubameyang has ‘played his last game for Arsenal’ after ‘unacceptable’ update – pundit

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have played his last game for Arsenal after being stripped of the club captaincy.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Mikel Arteta shared a new update on the striker.

As quoted by journalist Charlie Watts, Arteta confirmed on Friday (17 December) that Aubameyang is not available for selection against Leeds this weekend.

The striker has missed games against West Ham and Southampton after being stripped of the captaincy.

On Tuesday, a statement confirmed Aubameyang will no longer be club captain after returning late from an authorised trip abroad last week.

Kenny claims there may be no way back for Aubameyang after his latest transgression.

“It sounds like he’s gone back home to see his mum,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There are a lot of stories around at the moment. If his mum is ill then I do have a bit of sympathy for him, there is a lot going on in the world at the moment.

“Don’t get me wrong, if he’s been told to come back at a certain time then it’s unacceptable if he’s late.

“The problem is, this isn’t the first time this has happened. He has been brilliant but his form also hasn’t been good and he’s on such a massive contract there.

“It’s just not going right for him and by the sounds of it, he’s won’t be playing again soon.

“You do wonder, has he played his last game for Arsenal? I think that could be the case.”

Aubameyang has four goals in 14 Premier League games this season.

Arsenal are next in action against Leeds on Saturday (18 December).
