Aubameyang is causing Arteta ‘huge’ problem behind the Arsenal scenes – pundit

Danny Mills has claimed there is a “problem” brewing between Mikel Arteta and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender claimed Aubameyang is a “spiky” character who has a history of creating issues behind the scenes.

The Arsenal captain was axed from the starting XI for their 2-1 loss to Everton on Monday and was only introduced from the bench as the final substitute after 85 minutes.

It comes as Aubameyang was on a run of five Premier League games without a goal.

As quoted by the Metro today (December 10), Arteta ruled out suggestions of a rift and insisted he is not for sale in the January transfer window.

“It’s a difficult one,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“We’ve seen that he can be a little bit spiky, I would suggest, which doesn’t bode well.

“I’m looking at and thinking ‘Maybe there is a problem coming’. We’ve seen it time and time again, with him especially.

“It’s going to be a difficult one to manage because he’s on huge wages and is the captain of the football club.

“He has a lot of influence as well so it’s going to be a tricky one to manage for Mikel Arteta.”

Despite his recent barren run, Aubameyang still has found the net seven in 15 games across all competitions.

The 32-year-old now has 92 goals and 21 assists to his name in 163 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners.
