Exclusive: Phillips suggests White is staying at Leeds & Spaniard to partner him in PL
Kevin Phillips has suggested Ben White signing permanently for Leeds United and Middlesbrough ace Daniel Ayala to partner him in the Premier League next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the ex-England striker claimed the solid defensive qualities of the 29-year-old Spaniard would perfectly compliment the finesse and poise of the Leeds loanee.
The Boro star is out of contract at the end of the season and available on a free transfer.
White is at Elland Road on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion and has remarkably played every single minute of Leeds’ 37-match Championship campaign that has placed them top of the table.
Phillips explained why a move to Elland Road makes sense for Ayala, as does a full-time transfer to United for White.

“I could see that happening, definitely,” Phillips told Football Insider.
“Whether he will be seen as a first-choice centre-half… If Ben White signs you could see those two working together.
“A young player who can come out with it and Ayala who is a very good defender.”
United face stiff competition for the signature of White, who has also attracted strong interest from Premier League giants led by runaway leaders Liverpool.
Ayala has been a mainstay of the Boro team since signing in 2014 following an initial spell on loan from Norwich City.
