Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel plan revealed after Tottenham twist – sources

Bayern Munich plan to involve on-loan Tottenham forward Mathys Tel in their upcoming Club World Cup campaign, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (14 April) that Spurs will find it hard to convince Tel to remain at the club permanently without European football.

Tottenham are keen to keep the 19-year-old beyond the end of his loan spell in May but will not pay the buy clause – which is worth around £45million.

Tel is set to be recalled by Bayern when the English season ends and will become a part of their squad for the Club World Cup this summer.

Talks will continue between the two sides over the off-season and the Bundesliga giants will make a decision on his long-term future.

Spurs will look to negotiate a lower price for the young Frenchman if he is receptive to the move.

The Lilywhites’ only route to European football for the 2025-26 campaign will be to win the Europa League and progress to the Champions League proper.

Tel has made 11 appearances across all competitions for Tottenham, scoring three goals – including two in his last two Premier League outings.

He is under contract at Bayern until June 2029.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Monday (14 April) that Tottenham star Destiny Udogie could be tempted by a move to Man City if their “surprise” interest materialises.

Sources say City will be in the market for a left-back “without doubt” in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Udogie has been linked with Pep Guardiola‘s side but is under contract with Spurs until June 2030.
