BBC detail the length of contract Christiansen has signed at Leeds
By Harvey Byrne
BBC Radio Leeds have detailed on Friday that they believe Thursday appointment Thomas Christiansen to have signed a two-year deal with the option of a third.
The famous club announced on their official website on Thursday that the 44-year-old would take charge at Elland Road following the departure of Garry Monk in May.
However, there was no details on the website about what length of contract the Denmark-born manager had signed at the club.
This brought many questions from fans given the situation with Monk previously, but BBC Radio Leeds posted on their official Twitter account on Friday that Christiansen was signed for at least two years and that the club had an option of another if he succeeds.
This will be Christiansen’s first stint of management both in England and outside of Cyprus with his two previous jobs coming in the Cypriot top-flight with AEK Larnaca and APOEL respectively.
He is also Leeds’ seventh manager in just three years, and the club will now be hoping for more stability under the guidance of new owner Andrea Radrizzani, who took full charge of the club from the controversial Massimo Cellino last month.
In other Leeds news, Christiansen also sent a message to fans on Twitter following his appointment.
