BBC pundit: This is what would happen if Sturridge and Carroll played for West Ham next season

Jonathan Northcroft has hilariously stated that if Daniel Sturridge and Andy Carroll played alongside each other next season then West Ham would need “a new physio”.

Journalist Northcroft was doing punditry work for the BBC when he made those comments, with the two strikers known for having injury problems.

Sturridge is currently playing for Liverpool where he scored upon his return to the starting XI against the Hammers at the weekend.

On the other hand, target-man Carroll is currently out of action with a groin injury following up from his four-month layoff from a knee injury from earlier on in the campaign.

BBC pundit, Northcroft was asked what would happen if both Sturridge and Carroll played with each other next season.

“They will probably be in the market for a new physio as well,” Northcroft told the Monday Night Club on BBC Radio Five Live.

Over the course of the season, Sturridge has played 26 matches in all competitions for his side, scoring seven goals and supplying three assists.

He has played 19 Premier League matches during that time, starting seven of those encounters as he has struggled with hip and calf injuries during the season.

By contrast, Carroll has made 22 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals as 18 of those matches have come in the Premier League.

While Sturridge has started only nine league matches, Slaven Bilic has started the injury-prone Carroll in 15 games, using him every time he has become available.
