Done deal: Three-year contract agreed after 27-year-old quits Leeds
By Harry Sykes
Giuseppe Bellusci has completed a transfer to Italian club Palermo, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The Serie B club revealed on their official website and Twitter account that the defender had signed just two weeks after terminating his Leeds United contract.
Bellusci has signed a three-year deal with Palermo, who were relegated from the Italian top flight at the end of last season.
The 27-year-old left Elland Road by mutual consent in mid-July as he walked away from a contract that was not due to expire until next summer.
Leeds made it clear to Bellusci that he had played his last match for the club after his appearance in two pre-season friendlies were met with jeers by supporters, who made it clear they have not forgotten the incidents that marked his two years in a Leeds shirt before hie loan last season at Empoli.
Bellusci was signed in the summer of 2014 for £1.6million but was sent off on his debut against Watford and infuriated fans when he was among a group of players who refused to play among ex-manager Neil Redfearn, seemingly on the instructions of then-chairman Massimo Cellino.
The Italian centre-back spent 2016-17 at Empoli, where he made 33 appearances in all competitions, but their relegation from the top flight on the final day of the season eliminated his chances of converting his temporary stay into a permanent one.
In other Leeds United news, a left-back has headed to Elland Road as he aims to secure a permanent transfer from top-flight club.
