Ben Godfrey among four Everton stars who could be sold after deal agreed – pundit
Noel Whelan has suggested Ben Godfrey is among four defenders who could leave Everton this summer.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted James Tarkowski’s prospective arrival would force at least one departure, either permanently or on loan.
As revealed by Football Insider on Wednesday morning (8 June), the 29-year-old Burnley defender was set to undergo a medical that day as he closes in on a free transfer to the Toffees.

Meanwhile, a West Ham source told this site (9 June) that the Irons have registered their interest in signing Michael Keane after missing out on Tarkowski.
Everton currently have Keane, Godfrey, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite as their centre-back options.
Other than the Colombian, Whelan suggested the other centre-backs at Goodison are in the firing line this summer.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “If Tarkowski comes in, I still think Frank’s got something about Yerry Mina that he will keep there, because of his physicality.
“Yes, he’s been indifferent again at Everton with his performances but I think he’ll keep him. He’s big, he’s strong, he’s effective when it comes to set pieces for and against.
“I think he’ll probably trim it down. Godfrey has been a bit poor since he arrived and questionable at times. Has he seen enough of all the players in such a short space of time to make that decision? That’s the problem.
“Something’s got to give, that’s for sure. You can’t be having six proper Premier League players that could probably go and grace the other teams on the books.

“It doesn’t seem worthwhile having six experienced centre-halves. When I say experienced, you’ve probably got three or four there and then two young ones.
“Frank Lampard’s got to make his mind up very quickly. If he’s not a full sale, it might be a loan move.”
