Bertrand Traore: Steven Gerrard tipped to force Aston Villa star out after source reveal – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Steven Gerrard to force Bertrand Traore out of the Aston Villa exit door.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed Traore is too inconsistent for Gerrard as he wants to be fighting for the European places.

A club source told Football Insider yesterday (15 February) they will listen to offers for the winger ahead of the summer transfer window.

Gerrard let Anwar El Ghazi join Everton Trezeguet move to Istanbul Basaksheir, both on loan, in the January window.

Traore could move on a temporary or permanent deal when the window reopens as he has struggled to nail down a starting XI place this season.

Birmingham Live relayed the news last Friday (11 February) he had picked up a hamstring injury after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty with Burkina Faso.

“I do like Traore, he’s had some decent games.

“But he can be inconsistent like Trezeguet, like El Ghazi and Steven Gerrard will not want that.

“He will want those players who can help him push into Europe. Fighting for that top-six is harder than it has ever been with the teams fighting for it.

“Steven Gerrard will know he needs every player right at it with no inconsistency. So certain players will be moved on.”

Aston Villa

Traore moved to Aston Villa from Lyon in the summer of 2020 and enjoyed a decent debut season.

He scored eight times in 37 appearances across all competitions – finding the net more often than Jack Grealish.
