Betting latest: Leeds in running to re-sign PL forward, high-flyers ready reported £1.5m bid
Leeds United are in the running to re-sign Everton forward Aaron Lennon, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
SkyBet have installed the Whites as 20/1 third-favourites to complete a swoop for Lennon, 30, during the January transfer window.
Burnley (8/15) are the heavy favourites to sign up the former Elland Road wide-forward this month while Newcastle United (14/1) are next in the running.
The Sun has reported that Premier League high-flyers Burnley are ready to launch a bid worth £1.5million for Lennon during the current transfer window after originally missing out on him in the summer.
The Daily Mail has reported that Newcastle also have the 12-times England international on their shortlist for this month.
Lennon left a cash-strapped Leeds in 2005 to sign for Tottenham in a deal worth £1million after emerging from the Yorskshire club’s academy and making 39 senior appearances.
After 10 years at White Hart Lane, he was snapped up by Everton following a successful loan spell.
He has since made 77 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit, but is struggling to impose himself in the starting line-up every week under Sam Allardyce.
This season, the ex-Leeds forward has made 19 appearances in all competitions, but has started just nine times in the Premier League.
Thomas Christiansen’s side is looking devoid of attacking talent at the moment so if they have any chance of beating Burnley and Newcastle to Lennon, it would be one massive coup for the Championship side.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites must launch an ambitious swoop for this £15million Premier League forward after he was reportedly made available for a move.
