Betting latest: Leeds named firm favourites to sign Celtic star ahead of PL sides

Leeds United are the firm favourites to secure the signing of Celtic striker Moussa Dembele before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, according to the bookmakers’ latest odds.
Ladbrokes name the Championship side at odds of 9/2 to snap up the 21-year-old’s signature, leading a whole host of Premier League sides behind them in the standings.

The Championship club are followed by second favourites Crystal Palace, priced at 6/1, Newcastle United at 8/1 and Brighton and West Ham, both at odds of 10/1 for his capture.
Dembele has been one of Celtic’s top stars since his arrival on a free transfer back in the summer of 2016, with 40 goals in 71 appearances leading to a host of interest in his services, netting eight times in 22 outings this season.
Football Insider verdict
While Leeds may have been named as firm favourites for the Hoops’ star, the odds will have to be taken with a pinch of salt by the Whites faithful. Dembele has reportedly been hunted by some of the biggest names in world football and a move to Elland Road while the club are in the Championship seems unlikely. He was playing Champions League football last year and is chasing another Scottish title in the second half of the season, and the price tag which will be slapped on his head is way beyond what the Yorkshire club can afford to splash right now. Fans might get excited by the possibility of his capture, but in reality it is really just a pipe dream – for now.
