Betting latest: Spurs given boost ahead of Premier League campaign despite no transfer activity

By Abigail Withey

Tottenham are more likely to win the 2017/18 Premier League title than rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, despite failing to make a single signing this summer.

According to the latest SkyBet odds, Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently sit at 8/1 to reach the top of the table, while their two rivals trail behind at 10/1.

The odds may surprise some – although Spurs finished second to Chelsea in the previous campaign, Pochettino is yet to add any new squad members, with both Liverpool and Arsenal strengthening with significant signings.

Arsenal have recruited Monaco goal machine Alexandre Lacazette to improve their chances next season, along with defender Sead Kolasinac, while Liverpool have secured Mohamed Salah from Roma, Andrew Robertson from Hull and Dominic Solanke from Chelsea.

Although no new faces have appeared at the north London outfit, a few familiar ones have made their departure after key defender Kyle Walker made the high-profile move to join Manchester City and Nabil Bentaleb moved oversees to play for Schalke.

Despite being more likely to outright win the Premier League over their north London rivals and the Merseyside club, Spurs still sit behind favourites Man City who are at 7/4, and Chelsea and Manchester United who are both rated closely behind Guardiola’s side at 7/2.

Tottenham will play their Premier League opening match away at St. James’ Park against Newcastle next weekend, while Arsenal face Leicester and Liverpool travel to Watford.
