Bielsa ‘delighted’ as Ayling footage emerges from Leeds training ground – Phillips
Kevin Phillips has claimed “it will be great” for Leeds United to have Luke Ayling back in training this week.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League striker suggested Marcelo Bielsa’s side dearly miss the 30-year-old’s influence on and off the pitch.
Leeds United released footage of the right-back in the gym in the build up to the 2-1 loss at Tottenham yesterday.
According to The Athletic’s Phil Hay (November 19th), Ayling was hoping to train on Friday.
He has not featured for the Whites since suffering a knee injury in the 1-1 draw at Newcastle United in mid-September.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Ayling’s return to training, Phillips said: “It is always a boost to have one of your experienced players back.
“Ayling is such an important player for them because he can play anywhere across the back line.
“It will great to have him back in and around the training ground. Leeds need to keep clean sheets and hopefully when he comes back in he can help.
“He brings with him that experience and that organisation. He is an important voice on the pitch and in the dressing room.
“Bielsa will be delighted to have him back.”

Ayling has made six appearances for Leeds this season.
The right-back was ever-present in the Premier League for the Whites in the 2020-21 campaign.
In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Leeds United could become a ‘big deal’ in the US after Andrea Radrizzani’s new 49ers hint.
