Bielsa has found his ‘missing piece’ at Leeds after Bamford dismisses injury fears – pundit
Marcelo Bielsa will be “over the moon” after Patrick Bamford’s goalscoring return to action for Leeds United, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 28-year-old could not have enjoyed a better comeback.
Bamford came off the bench to net a last-minute equaliser in Leeds’ 2-2 draw with Brentford on Sunday (5 December).
It was the striker’s first appearance in 10 league games after suffering an ankle injury.
Hutton admitted Bamford had been sorely missed by the Yorkshire giants.
As such, he suggested Bielsa would privately be delighted to see him immediately back among the goals.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “You saw how buzzing Bamford was celebrating after his goal. I mean, there’s nothing better as a striker when you’ve been out for a while.
“There’s been a lot of talk about how because he’s been missing, they’ve really been struggling. Then you come back, bang, goal. Everybody’s mood just lifts and everybody feels a little bit better.
“Bielsa will be over the moon that he’s back scoring. Excellent, just build on that. They’re not in a position where they want to be.
“They want to start winning games and getting up that league table. Hopefully with a likes of Bamford back they can do that. He is the missing piece for me.”
Bamford played 22 minutes against Brentford after coming off the bench.
He has now scored two goals and contributed two assists in six Premier League appearances this term.
