Billy Gilmour told to exit Chelsea amid ‘horrible’ claim – pundit
Frank McAvennie has told Billy Gilmour to forget about his “horrible” experience at Norwich City in 2021-22 and leave Chelsea on loan again this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Gilmour has to be getting game time this season.
The 21-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the Blues this season.

The midfielder has been left out of the squad for all of the London club’s fixtures so far.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, as quoted by FootballScotland (29 August), Gilmour is on “stand-by” for a loan move away from Stamford Bridge.
The midfielder spent last season on loan with the Canaries, who were relegated at the end of the campaign.
When asked if Gilmour should be looking for another move away this season, McAvennie told Football Insider: “When he went down there [to Chelsea] I didn’t think it was a step too far for him.
“I thought he made a great choice because he’s a wonderful talent. Then they put him on loan and it must have been a horrible experience for him to go to Norwich where they were getting battered every week and he wasn’t getting a game.

“It was the wrong team for him to go to. I don’t understand why they put him there, it must have shot his confidence. He’s back and playing and training with world class players now so that should be boosting his confidence.
“I keep saying, it doesn’t matter if he wants to stay at Chelsea. Put him on loan then, he’s got to be somewhere that he’s going to play. It’s a shame for him.“
