Birmingham fans ‘genuinely gutted’ as they rage over transfer announcement: ‘This is crazy’
Birmingham City have confirmed the departure of Keshi Anderson, after an agreement was found to terminate his contract.
It is expected to be a busy January transfer window at St Andrews’, where Birmingham have already signed Kai Wagner from Philadelphia Union.
Anderson is among those sacrificed, however, despite the winger having made 19 Championship appearances this season, including seven starts.
Elsewhere in the squad, Birmingham have decided to keep Kyogo Furuhashi at the club this month despite interest from his former club Celtic.
Football Insider have revealed that Lyndon Dykes is also attracting interest from Ipswich Town this month, as they look to sign a striker.
Birmingham fans shocked by Keshi Anderson announcement
Anderson arrived at Birmingham on a free transfer in 2023, after he had left Blackpool at the conclusion of his contract.
Much of his first season at the club was marred by a big hamstring injury, but last season saw him find his feet.

The winger scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 48 appearances across all competitions, and was key to Birmingham’s League One-winning campaign.
One fan of the Blues said Anderson was “arguably our best player last season”, underlining the shock that came in response to Wednesday’s announcement.
Other fans shared their disappointment with the news on social media, with one expressing that he is “genuinely gutted about this one”.
Another described the decision as “crazy”, and explained that “he’s never let us down and was never given much chance when we was promoted”.
One X user said: “I don’t think I’ve ever been this surprised over an announcement?? Genuinely gutted and sad about this but thank you for everything Keshi.”
Fans speculate fall-out between Anderson and Chris Davies
Some fans have speculated that there could be more to Anderson’s exit from Birmingham, with some pointing to a moment at the start of the year.
Chris Davies‘ team were battered 3-0 by Watford on New Year’s Day, with Tom Ince netting a hat-trick on the night.
Anderson, who had started, told Birmingham’s YouTube channel after the game: “I don’t think it comes from a lack of trying or the want to succeed.
“Obviously, we have a certain style of play that we try to implement every game, sometimes we nullify ourselves by maybe moving the ball too slow, not getting into opportunities quick enough.
“Teams kind of like to sit in and hope for that, counter-attack, and today, first half, they had two shots and sometimes things just don’t go for you.”
Anderson did not appear in the squad for Birmingham’s subsequent two games, and fans have speculated that Davies may have taken his comments as a direct dig against his tactics.
