Birmingham medical scheduled as work permit obtained for multi-million transfer
Birmingham City look set to sign Jhon Solis this month, with the 21-year-old defensive midfielder set for a medical.
As it stands, Birmingham are not likely to be promoted back into the Premier League.
Currently, the Blues are 14th in the table, seven points off the playoffs after a recent run of poor form.
As a result, pressure has increased on Chris Davies at St Andrew’s as he struggles to match the ambitions of the West Midlands club.
Therefore, the manager will be hopeful that further additions can help turn their fortunes around as Solis nears a switch to the Blues.

Birmingham City close in on Jhon Solis loan deal
Birmingham have been chasing Solic through the January transfer window.
The Girona defensive midfielder has struggled for consistent starts in La Liga and is more commonly seen from the bench.
As a result, the Blues have looked to take advantage of the 21-year-old’s lack of game time by striking a deal to sign the Colombian.
Now, it appears that Davies has got his wish, with Pipe Sierra reporting via X on 15 January that Solis is due to have a medical at Birmingham on Friday.

This is ahead of a six-month loan deal that will see the 21-year-old join Birmingham from Girona.
There is the potential for Solis to make his stay at St Andrew’s a permanent one, with the loan deal containing a purchase option that could become mandatory for £6.94million.
What are Birmingham City’s transfer plans for the rest of January?
Football Insider revealed in December that Birmingham City wanted a striker, left-back and midfielder this month.
As it stands, it looks as if they have the latter two positions sorted, meaning a striker is all that is left to acquire.
Birmingham are reportedly close to completing a deal to sign Djurgarden striker August Priske this month.
The attacker had been on fire last season and scored 23 goals in 43 games.
However, it remains to be seen if the Blues are able to get a deal for the 21-year-old over the line.
