Birmingham on verge of agreement to sign golden boot winner, personal terms all sorted

Birmingham City are reportedly close to completing a deal to sign 21-year-old Djurgarden striker August Priske this month.

The striker comes amid several developments in the attacking area of the pitch this season, including Birmingham’s decision to keep Kyogo Furuhashi at the club.

The Japan international now looks set to stay at St Andrew’s despite interest from Celtic, and he may be joined by the young forward.

Birmingham have already completed a deal for Kai Wagner this month, and transfer chiefs are keen to continue the bolstering of Chris Davies‘ squad.

Football Insider revealed last week that Birmingham have also opened talks to sign Patrick Roberts permanently from Sunderland.

Birmingham close in on August Priske

Priske is among Denmark’s most promising young strikers, and is expected to make his debut for the international team in the coming months.

The 21-year-old scored 23 goals in 43 games across all competitions for Djurgarden last season, and was named Allsvenskan joint-top scorer with Ibrahim Diabate after both players scored 18 goals in the 2025 season.

Tipsbladet reported on Thursday that Birmingham are leading the race to sign the young Dane, who is also subject to interest from Besiktas and Lille.

But the Championship club are close to an agreement on personal terms with Priske, and negotiations are progressing swiftly with Djurgarden.

In the summer, RB Salzburg made a bid for the 21-year-old worth around £3.5million, with Birmingham’s bid expected to be worth more than that.

What Bo Andersson said about Priske price tag

In a October interview with Fotbollskanalen, Djurgarden sporting director Bo Andersson said Priske would beat the fee the club received for Lucas Bergvall.

Tottenham signed the young midfielder in 2024 after beating off the likes of Barcelona to agree a deal worth around £8.5m.

“Yes, he’ll beat Lucas Bergvall,” Andersson said. “I can tell you that. Otherwise, he’ll be playing in Djurgarden in 2026.”

“I think August Priske will go to a real big club,” he added. Should Priske be a talent to the level of Bergvall, then he will be well worth splashing the cash for Birmingham.
