Boehly and Eghbali spotted heading for Jackson after chaotic Chelsea performance

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson was the focus of the attention of two of the club’s top stakeholders, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, following their UEFA Conference League final win over Real Betis.

Enzo Maresca‘s side went into the game looking to end their campaign in perfect style by ending a four-year wait for a major trophy.

That is something they would manage to do, with Chelsea beating Real Betis 4-1 in the final in Poland to become the first club to win all three major European titles.

One player who was heavily involved in a number of big moments during that win for the Blues was Jackson himself.

Nicolas Jackson earns high-profile attention after final win

It was a frustrating end to the season for the striker, with Jackson sent off for Chelsea during their defeat at Newcastle, earning him a ban for the final two league games of the season.

He was restored to the starting XI for this final, where Betis took the lead after ten minutes following a Malo Gusto error, which put the La Liga side ahead at half time.

On the hour-mark, Jackson was then denied a penalty for Chelsea after being clattered into by opposition goalkeeper Adrian as the Blues went in search of an equaliser.

He would though not be denied in the end, with the Senegalese international scruffily turning in a Cole Palmer cross with his chest to make it 2-1, moments after Enzo Fernandez had done the same to equalise.

That would earn Jackson the adulation of the two Chelsea stakeholders after the game, as the celebrations got into full through.

Jackson could have made the game safe earlier than Jadon Sancho and Moises Caicedo ultimately did, as he streaked clear with a teammate alongside him when 2-1 up, but what looked a certain third went begging when his dreadful touch sent the ball harmlessly through to Adrian.

Taking to X to provide a post-match update, talkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs noted that both Boehly and Eghabli had embraced on the pitch, before heading for the striker himself, sharing a clip of Eghbali hugging Jackson amid the celebrations.

Chelsea star gets welcome backing

Football Insider Verdict

This has been a difficult season for Jackson at times, with the 23-year-old enduring a difficult run in front of goal earlier in the campaign, as well as incidents such as that sending off at St James’ Park.

As a result, there have been some questions about his position at Chelsea ahead of a summer transfer window in which many may expect them to strengthen in attack.

Even so, it appears as though Jackson does now have some key supporters within the corridors of power at Stamford Bridge.

Eghbali is the person who holds the most control at the club, while decisions over player business often appear to fall to Boehly.

The fact that both of those Chelsea stakeholders appeared to make a point of showing their affection for Jackson after this win suggests he is in a strong position to continue to push on his career with the club.

With that in mind, there may well be reason to expect that the striker will remain at Stamford Bridge for some time to come yet, regardless of what signings the club make this summer.
