Bojan Miovski set for Rangers move as ‘very interesting’ plan for Lawrence Shankland explained

Bojan Miovski is set to be shown the door by Rangers after they secured a deal to sign striker Lawrence Shankland from Hearts.

That is according to former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who has revealed that the North Macedonian is the most likely candidate to fall victim to Shankland’s signing.

The 26-year-old arrived at Ibrox with big expectations when the Light Blues splashed out £4.2million to sign him last summer, but he has since notched just seven league goals and played a bit-part role.

Danny Rohl has already added to his attacking options by getting a deal for Shankland over the line, leaving him with four senior strikers to choose from at the top of the pitch.

Rangers’ transfer plans are set to see them strengthen across the board this summer, and that is expected to see several fringe players head in the opposite direction.

Lawrence Shankland set to play alongside Youssef Chermiti

Aberdeen’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa, and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Rohl will use Shankland in a partnership alongside Youssef Chermiti.

The Portuguese ended the Scottish Premiership campaign with 15 goals to his name, despite facing question marks surrounding his ability, and is being lined up as a starting option once again next term.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness made it clear that Miovski is seriously “at risk” of being shown the door, rather than either Chermiti or Ryan Naderi.

“I think Chermiti will benefit from having Shankland, playing off Shankland would be really good for him, Wyness said.

“I think the one who’s really at risk is Mivovski. He could certainly be out the door, and I think he’d be one of those who would be on the list to sell. He hasn’t performed to expectations. He did quite well at Aberdeen, but he hasn’t done it for Rangers that much.

“And so overall, I think we’re looking at Chermiti and Shankland being the attacking force, which would be a very interesting forward duo for Rangers.”

Bojan Miovski ‘unhappy’ at Rangers as move set to suit all parties

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Miovski is “unhappy” at Rangers, with plans already in place for him to become Rohl’s fourth-choice striker next term.

The frontman has already been frustrated with the lack of starts that he has received in recent months, and has begun to eye an exit of his own accord ahead of the summer window.

He is not content with playing a bit-part role in Glasgow once again next term, and now that Rangers are keen on the idea of moving him on, a sale in the coming months is set to benefit all parties.

Miovski has struggled to live up to the hype that surrounded his big-money signing last summer, and it is already clear that Rohl sees little room for him in his long-term plans.
