Bold Everton-Van De Beek transfer claim made by pundit after Brands ‘talks’ held
Noel Whelan doubts Donny van der Beek will leave Manchester United and sign for Everton in January.
The former Leeds United hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted as the player’s agent spoke out on the future of the midfielder signed for £36million last year.
Speaking to Dutch outlet Ziggo Sport (via The Athletic) Van De Beek’s agent admitted he “opened talks” with Marcel Brands in the final days of the window.

The midfielder signed for Man United last summer but only made 19 Premier League appearances, with only four of them being starts.
Whelan insists there is a possibility the player could move to Everton in January but questioned why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would change his mind over the next few months.
“There’s always a possibility,” Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.
“Again, if they were really eager to get rid of him or move him on, they would have done it by now.
“My opinion is that they want to use him as a squad player in all the competitions they have to play in.
“Whether that’s the domestic cups or the Champions League. If you want to be successful, think about how many games you need to play.
“You can’t play the same squad all the time, they would be burned out by January.

“You have got to think about utilising and chopping and changing your squad when you can.
“If they were going to loan him out they would have done it now. By January they may have injuries or he may hit some form.”
