Liverpool are favourites to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet has priced the Merseysiders at 9/4 to sign the goalkeeper, who is currently on loan at Torino, before the summer window closes on 3 September.
Liverpool are narrowly ahead of Everton (3/1) in the betting, while West Ham (5/1), Torino (7/1) and Chelsea (8/1) are also tipped as possible contenders.
The Sun claimed on Wednesday that Liverpool were set to sign the 70-time England international in the forthcoming window.
However, Sky Sports claimed on their website later on in the day that Jurgen Klopp had no plans to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer and was happy with Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.
The Anfield boss maintained that was his stance when he was quizzed on Thursday about Hart.
The City ace, who won the Premier League golden glove in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015, has had mixed fortunes at Torino this term.
The Shrewsbury-born stopper has played 30 games in Serie A for the Bulls and has performed well on occasion, but he has only kept five clean sheets and has made a number of high profile errors.
Prior to Pep Guardiola’s arrival at City last summer, Hart had been their number one for six years between 2010 and 2016 and he made 348 appearances in all competitions.
Hart has one year remaining on a City contract that the Daily Mail claim is worth £140,000-a-week.
Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles has not exactly been in fine form for the Toffees in recent times, but he is preferred to former Netherlands number one Maarten Stekelenburg at the moment.
Ronald Koeman could be eyeing up a summer swoop for a goalkeeper to solve a problem area for his side, and Hart who is a proven performer in the Premier League, could be his man.
In other Liverpool news, Steven Gerrard has claimed that this Everton starlet has what it takes to become a superstar.
