Borna Barisic could be axed from Rangers XI after pictures emerge – Hutton
Alan Hutton has claimed Borna Barisic could be left out of the Rangers starting XI against Kilmarnock on Saturday (6 August).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender suggested the 29-year-old could be replaced by new signing Ridvan Yilmaz, 21, in the Light Blues’ first home game of the season.
Speaking to club media (4 August), Yilmaz said he is “looking forward” to playing at Ibrox.
The Turkey international, who was pictured in training on Sunday (31 August), said he is “proud” to be a part of the Glasgow club and is eager to “help” them in the league.
Hutton believes Giovanni van Bronckhorst could also switch up the formation from the game on Tuesday against Union Saint-Gilloise.
“There’s options there for Giovanni van Bronckhorst,” he told Football Insider.
“For me, right off the bat you’re looking at Barisic. Is he out the team? Is Yilmaz going to come in? I think Borna has been a great servant to the club but his start to this season has been poor so far. Is that a case of he feels somebody breathing down his neck? So there’s one change.

“Another situation is how far away is Alfredo Morelos? I think Rangers are crying out for him and Ryan Kent, when you miss guys like that on the big stage you realise how much the team are below par without them. So can either of them come back in?
“Even the formation, I don’t think they way they went up against Union suited them so I think that will change also. So there’s food for thought for the manager.”
