Borson: ‘Man City are leaking news on huge double signing’

Manchester City are making plans for the summer transfer window despite having their 115 charges case still hanging over their heads.

An independent commission hearing into the case started in September last year and ended in December, with the panel now considering its verdict.

The Manchester giants are accused of breaching the financial fair play (FFP) rules over a nine-year period and concealing payments through third parties by disguising them as sponsorship revenue.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been heavily linked with Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the club appear to be briefing that they want to sign both players this summer.

Man City spent around £200million on new signings in January despite their ongoing 115 charges case.

Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez all made the move to the Etihad in the mid-season window.

Man City have shown confidence in 115 charges case

Borson insisted Man City have shown a sign of confidence in their 115 charges case as they plan to spend big this summer.

He told Football Insider: “They seem to be briefing that they want to sign both Wirtz and Gibbs-White.

“I suspect that they won’t stop there either.

“They may well have plans to move on some of the younger players again.

“We know that McAtee is almost certain to go. That probably generates something like £20-25million of PSR profit.

“But they do seem to be ready to spend quite big again.

“I think that’s another one of those indicators that they remain confident in the 115 charges case, which obviously has gone quiet again.”

Man City lead Liverpool in race to sign Andrea Cambiaso

Football Insider revealed on 2 May Man City are leading Liverpool in the race to sign Andrea Cambiaso this summer.

If Juventus fail to qualify for the Champions League, they will be forced to sell players to raise funds and would accept £40-50million for the full-back.

Cambiaso can play on both sides of the defence and was a top target for Man City in the January transfer window.
