Sources: Nicolas Jackson undergoing Bournemouth medical after deal agreed

Nicolas Jackson is undergoing a Bournemouth medical at 5.00pm today ahead of his move from Villareal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Cherries have agreed a permanent deal for the 21-year-old forward and an announcement is expected soon.

Manager Gary O’Neil sees the Senegal international as the right player to add attacking threat to his side in their battle to beat the drop.

Jackson is under contract at Villareal until 2026 having signed a new deal in July last year.

He is set to become Bourneouth’s second signing of the winter window after 20-year-old forward Dango Ouattara completed a £20m move from Lorient last Tuesday (17 January).

Jackson has scored three times and laid on three assists in 24 outings this term.

He began his career at Senegalese side Casa Sports before moving to Villareal’s academy in 2019.

He later went on to impress for the B team and also spent a season on loan at second-tier side Mirandes.

Jackson has played solely as a centre-forward in 2022-23 but has previously been deployed on the right of a front three.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (25 January) that Bournemouth are also in advanced talks to sign Roma defender Matias Vina.

The 25-year-old has turned out 28 times for Uruguay, including two appearances at the World Cup in Qatar.

Sources have also told this site that Bournemouth are monitoring Lorient striker Terem Moffi, although West Ham are the leading candidate to secure the 23-year-old’s signature.
