Update on Marco Rose's future at Bournemouth after source's reveal
Marco Rose could be sacked by Bournemouth if he doesn't inspire a quick turnaround in their Premier League results, sources have told Football Insider.
Despite the Cherries' bright start to life in the Europa League, where they have won both of their first two games, their domestic form has been well below par so far.
A 5-1 defeat against Chelsea last time out raised red flags about their recent results, with Bournemouth having now failed to win in six Premier League games so far.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Rose's position is not under threat but there are early concerns about their league form.
Football Insider revealed on 15th October that Bournemouth have an interest in Thomas Frank, the currently available former Brentford and Tottenham manager.
Should the Cherries continue to drop down the table over the coming weeks, and if they end up getting sucked into a relegation battle, they could be forced into a decision.
Rose retains the backing of the Bournemouth board as things stand, with their European displays offering a positive counter to their league form, but questions could be asked.
Could Marco Rose be sacked by Bournemouth?
Former Man United coach Mick Brown warned Football Insider on 12 October that Bournemouth could be forced to sack Rose if they do not improve quickly.
While there are no immediate concerns about the manager's future, despite their slow start to the domestic season, there is a belief the results could soon become a problem.
There is an expectation for Rose and his side to turn their results around, but if they continue to struggle, there is a chance the board could be forced into a decision.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "If Bournemouth were to sack Marco Rose, it would take their results to continue in their current vein and not to improve.
"If they find themselves in the drop zone and in a relegation battle through the rest of the season, then there will obviously be question marks about Marco Rose.
"But there’s nothing at the minute with regard to the manager's future, Bournemouth feel they have been a bit unlucky so far.
"They have thrown away leads against Man City, Everton, Newcastle and Brentford, and if they had held on to those games then they'd obviously be in a better position.
"But there's quality in the squad, there's no doubt about that and there's no panic over Marco Rose's situation just yet."
Who could be in line to replace Rose?
Amid the building pressure on Rose's position at the Vitality Stadium, plans are being made to identify his potential successor in case the club are forced into a decision.
Bournemouth are hopful the boss will turn around his fortunes, especially after their performances in the Europa League, but are now making contingency plans just in case.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 15 October that Bournemouth have held internal talks about approaching Thomas Frank to become their next manager.
The former Brentford boss is highly regarded in the corridors of power at Bournemouth, and there is a feeling he could be the ideal candidate if a change has to be made.
Should they be forced to sack Rose, then Frank would be considered a leading contender by the Cherries, who are among a number of admirers of the manager.
