Bowen could save Moyes ‘£10m-plus’ as West Ham transfer plot revealed – pundit
Noel Whelan has suggested West Ham could avoid paying through the nose for a new striker this month thanks to Jarrod Bowen.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds forward insisted prices could be hiked up by “£10million-plus” during the winter window.
As quoted by football.london last Wednesday (12 January), David Moyes admitted the Irons have been looking to recruit competition for Michail Antonio for two years.

The Scottish manager insisted he wants reinforcements this month but will not sign a player “for the sake of it”.
Whelan suggested Bowen’s versatility in attack means Moyes can afford to be patient.
“Think about how when Michail Antonio has been out and how well Jarrod Bowen’s done in that area,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“It does take a lot of strain off the striker, knowing that he’s not the one that they need to turn to week in, week out. Sometimes you need that bit of help.
“That’s probably given Moyes that confidence that he has time to wait for the right signing. He knows Jarrod Bowen can play anywhere across from three.
“There are strikers out there that you can go and get.
“However, you can add another £10million-plus onto that price tag because it’s January.
“You need cover in these areas down the spine of the side, it’s so important. However, Moyes won’t just bring anybody in. It’s got to be the right player.
“Even though it’s a difficult window, he’s still going to stick to the same principles when he brings in players.”

Bowen, 25, has featured six times as a centre-forward this season.
He has nine goals and 10 assists in 31 appearances so far this term.
