Brendan Rodgers makes bold claim about Rangers tactics ahead of Celtic clash

Brendan Rodgers has boldly claimed that he knows how Rangers will play in the upcoming Old Firm game at Celtic Park.

The Celtic manager, as quoted by BBC Sport, has made it clear that he doesn’t believe that Graeme Murty’s side will spring any surprises on the home side.

“Graeme’s changed his shape a few times, but it’s pretty much the same players and I don’t think there will be too many surprises for us.”

The two managers have only faced each other once before, when Celtic and Rangers played out a 1-1 draw in a match overshadowed by a controversial decision by referee Bobby Madden, who refused to award Celtic what looked to be a stonewall penalty for a foul on Leigh Griffiths by Clint Hill.

The Hoops are currently 11 points clear of their old rivals, and they warmed up for the game with a 2-0 win over Dundee with goals from James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths.

Rangers also won their midweek match, defeating Motherwell 2-0 thanks to goals from Danny Wilson and Alfredo Morelos.

The upcoming derby is the second meeting between the teams so far this season, the Bhoys winning 2-0 in the first game at Ibrox in September thanks to goals from Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths.

Rodgers has won six of seven matches against Rangers since taking over at Celtic Park in May 2016, the only blemish on the record the aforementioned 1-1 in March.

In other Celtic news, Craig Gordon has heaped praise on Kristoffer Ajer.
