Brendan Rodgers’ stance on joining Leeds revealed after Daniel Farke sack latest

Brendan Rodgers will keep his options open, despite the possibility of becoming the new Leeds manager due to Daniel Farke’s struggles in the Premier League.

With Farke now the odds on favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked after the Whites’ poor start to the season, the club will almost certainly be exploring managerial replacements.

Given there are many names in the mix, former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Ange Postecoglou could become the new Leeds manager in a rapid return to the English top-flight.

Whilst the Australian will certainly be in contention for the job, the Peacocks will also be keeping tabs on Rodgers after he resigned from Celtic on 27 October.

Rodgers to remain patient as he braces for flurry of offers from England and abroad

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Yorkshire outfit are preparing for life without the German after their fourth straight loss in the Premier League.

The Whites lost 3-2 to Man City on 29 November, yet the combative manner of the defeat has given Farke more time at Leeds than previously thought, sources told Football Insider.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over how much patience the Whites will have with the ex-Norwich City boss and what it means for Rodgers, I explained: “Right now, having left Celtic, he will be linked with so many jobs here and there when they do come.

“I’m sure Leeds will have him on their list, but whether they’ll be able to get Brendan Rodgers will be another question altogether.

“I’m sure he might not be that interested in joining the club midway through the season and joining the relegation battle because I’m sure Brendan Rodgers will be keeping his options open and seeing what’s not just available in England, but maybe abroad as well.”

Leeds’ dressing room status could be key in deciding Farke’s fate

Whilst the German appears to have been given a few more games to recover the sinking ship at Elland Road, the mood at the club is clearly a factor that could be pivotal in whether the manager stays in Yorkshire.

Sources told Football Insider that morale in the Leeds dressing room is in a “terrible” state after a below-par return to English top-flight football.

Farke’s history in the Premier League has been nothing short of calamitous with an abysmal tenure at Norwich City when they were instantly relegated in the 2020-21 campaign.

If he can get the Whites winning regularly and improve the atmosphere in camp, maybe the owners will back him in January to ensure the club’s survival.
