Brendan Rodgers to walk away from Celtic, the board can’t convince him otherwise
Brendan Rodgers’ exit from Celtic is inevitable with his departure a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
Fan discontent has become increasingly apparent with Rodgers stepping in to dissuade Celtic supporters from protesting over the running of the club.
The Hoops have been knocked out of their perch due to the shocking levels of investment into the side which is likely the complete opposite of what the Northern Irishman expected following great success in the 2024-25 season.
To make matters worse, missing out on Champions League football rocked Celtic’s financial accounts as the former Liverpool boss had to settle for the meagre Europa League.
An inadequate squad, lesser riches from European football and a fragmented board have left the Bhoys’ manager feeling his time is up at Celtic Park.

Celtic transfer strategy and stance bewilders Brendan Rodgers
Sources told Football Insider on 30 September that Rodgers continues to be frustrated by the Celtic board and their approach to the upcoming transfer window.
The summer was hugely disappointing for the Northern Irishman with the club’s hierarchy opting for frugal free transfers or cheap alternatives to bolster the squad.
Sebastian Tounetki was the most expensive signing of the summer worth around a reported £5.5million.
Yet, his arrival came on deadline day, just like Kelechi Iheanacho, despite the fact the ex-Leicester City boss was in dire need of attacking reinforcements.
This was especially imperative given Daizen Maeda’s eagerness to leave Celtic according to Football Insider sources.
The delayed transfer dealings and reluctance to spend large to consolidate the Hoops excellent 2024-25 campaign suggests the board are prepared to let Rodgers go at the end of the season.
Celtic board out of time to persuade Rodgers to stay
At the end of the 2025-26 campaign, the Northern Irishman is set to leave the club following the expiration of his contract.
The ex-Swansea City manager re-joined the Bhoys after a four-season hiatus and quickly picked up where Ange Postecoglou had left off.

He has won four trophies during his spell back at Celtic Park, restoring the Hoops back to their former glory yet the hierarchy’s unwillingness to back him suggests the two parties will part ways.
As Transfer Correspondent Pete O’Rourke said on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Celtic board need to put their faith in Rodgers by splashing the cash in the January transfer window.

Sources told Football Insider that Premier League clubs are targeting Rodgers as there is an overwhelming feeling that the Glaswegian outfit don’t want him anymore.
By investing in the squad in January, there is a chance the Northern Irishman will be convinced of staying put in Scotland but this isn’t a guarantee.
From the outside looking in, the former Foxes boss had had enough with the appalling level of trust from the club’s hierarchy as he looks determined to march out next summer.
