Brendan Rodgers ‘too good’ to abandon Celtic signing plan – pundit

Brendan Rodgers won’t “throw out” Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic targets.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton insisted Rodgers is “too good” a manager to abandon any transfer targets Postecoglou had before he left Parkhead.

Rodgers was re-appointed as Hoops boss last month following Postecoglou’s departure for Tottenham.

Since his arrival, the Northern Irishman has welcomed two new signings to Parkhead – Australian winger Marco Tilio and Norwegian midfielder Odin Thiago Holm.

Holm had been in the club’s scouting and recruitment system for some time but Rodgers made sure to speak with the 20-year-old before he arrived at the club.

Hutton insisted Rodgers will be happy to follow the scouting work done by the club before his arrival.

I think that is why you have that dedicated section of the recruitment that goes and searches players, goes and watches them,” he told Football Insider.

They have put the hard work in already, it has probably been sanctioned by the club and agree that it is someone they want to look at.

For Brendan Rodgers to come in and just fling all that to the side, he is not that type of guy. He is too good of a manager for that.

He will probably have the final say so if he has a look at a player and thinks that is something they can move forward with, it is probably not going to cost that much money. So I think it is a good idea all round.
