Brenden Aaronson tipped to be first of eight Leeds United signings – pundit

Brenden Aaronson could be one of eight new Leeds United singings this summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Leeds will need to bolster their squad or next season will be a “struggle”.

A recruitment source told Football Insider on Tuesday (24 May) that the Whites have agreed personal terms with Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Aaronson after having a £25million bid accepted.

The 21-year-old has been given permission to undergo a medical and finalise terms.

Asked whether he expected it to be a busy summer at Elland Road, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “100 per cent.

“Leeds probably need like seven or eight new players.

“Next season is going to be tougher with the World Cup in the middle of it and you’re allowed five subs.

“Leeds need new players. They probably need two strikers because Bamford’s injury prone and Rodrigo is not good enough.

“They need players all around the pitch so it’s going to be a big summer for Leeds and they need to get their chequebook out. Otherwise, next season could be another struggle.

“You have to give Leeds credit. I actually put a bet on Burnley to go down and I won myself £600.

“I knew Leeds would beat Brentford because they showed they wanted to stay up. Burnley showed they didn’t, defensive five at the back and they didn’t show up. They should have gone for Newcastle and attacked.

“The team that stayed up was the one that deserved it because they put their heart and soul on the pitch.”
