Brennan Johnson tipped to reach ‘next level’ at Leeds United after source update – pundit

Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Leeds United, Brentford and Tottenham target Brennan Johnson.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker suggested the 20-year-old would reach “the next level” under the management of Marcelo Bielsa.

Johnson has enjoyed a breakout campaign at Nottingham Forest this season and starred in an FA Cup win over Leicester City on Sunday.

A recruitment source told Football Insider (3 February) that Leeds and Brentford are tracking the attacking midfielder ahead of the summer.

In January, the Bees failed with an £18million bid to sign Johnson, who has 18 months left on his contract at the City Ground.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Johnson potentially moving to Elland Road, Campbell said: “I’ve been really impressed with him.

“He’s an exciting player. He’s direct, scores, assists and is a great age.

“I think he’d do really well at Leeds under a manager like Marcelo Bielsa, who we have already seen take young players to the next level.

“But there is going to be a lot of teams in for him, I can tell you this much. Johnson has made a good name for himself already. The further Forest go in the FA Cup, the more teams that will be watching and keeping an eye on him.

“He will leave in the summer, I’m sure of that. But will it be Leeds?”
