Brentford must be wary of Man City ace who always scores at the Gtech, it’s not Erling Haaland

Brentford are vying to earn back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time this season when they host Manchester City on Sunday.

Last time out in the top flight, Brentford beat Manchester United 3-1, thanks to Igor Thiago’s brace and Mathias Jensen’s late goal.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s men are back on form in the Premier League, having beaten Burnley 5-1 on Saturday, 27 September.

However, Man City drew 2-2 with Monaco in the Champions League, as former Tottenham defender Eric Dier scored a late penalty for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Phil Foden consistently delivers for Man City vs Brentford

Erling Haaland is in prolific form with eight goals in his last five games across all competitions, but Brentford should be more fearful of Phil Foden’s record against them.

The attacking midfielder performed well in Man City’s draw with Monaco, while he has scored for Guardiola’s side in recent wins over Huddersfield Town and Man United.

Foden has scored seven Premier League goals against Brentford, with six of those strikes arriving at the Bees’ Gtech Community Stadium.

The 25-year-old has only scored more goals in the top flight against Brighton than Keith Andrews’ men, with eight against the Seagulls.

Foden has every right to be angered by England snub

Foden will be focused on delivering for Man City against Brentford in West London on 5 October, but he should also feel hard-done by after being omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad for the upcoming friendly with Wales and the World Cup qualifier.

The Three Lions squad included Morgan Rogers, who has not been in good form for Aston Villa, whereas the Man City star has shone for Guardiola’s side in recent weeks.

Foden must now be fearful of missing out on World Cup selection, as England have just three competitive games left before next summer’s tournament.

The 25-year-old’s recent performance against Monaco in the Champions League, as well as his goal in the Manchester Derby proves that he is capable of delivering on the big stage, which is exactly what Tuchel needs.

If England fail to perform against either Wales or Latvia, the Three Lions boss will be heavily scrutinised over his decision to leave both Foden and Jack Grealish out of his squad.
