Brentford must beat Everton to William Osula signing as door opens

William Osula is eyeing up a January loan escape from Newcastle after being pushed down the pecking order – and now is the time for Premier League clubs to get an early deal done.

Sources told Football Insider that Newcastle are willing to let Osula go in January.

Osula could reignite a move to Eintracht Frankfurt after the deal collapsed on transfer deadline day last summer.

The form of Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade is set to determine if Osula leaves Newcastle in January with the former yet to make a return from injury.

However, the German has been in sensational form since his arrival which will most likely lead to the Magpies opening the door for the Dane to impress away from St James’ Park.

Osula ideal for Brentford if Igor Thiago’s injury concerns creep up again

Ironically, Newcastle are lining up a January move for Igor Thiago after a stunning start to the 2025-26 campaign.

The Brazilian has four goals in seven Premier League matches and has become Keith Andrews’ reliable goalscorer.

The forward spearheads the attack for Brentford however, there will be concerns over his previous injury record.

In 2024-25, the 24-year-old missed 273 days of action due to a meniscus and knee injury as he hardly featured after signing from Club Brugge.

The Irish manager will be aware of the lack of striking alternatives to the South American, highlighting the importance of a loan move for Osula.

The Dane would suit Andrews’ counterattacking system, utilising his athleticism and speed to get in behind defences whilst sharing the workload with Thiago.

Everton’s striker woes offer golden opportunity for Osula

The Bees could be stunned by the prospect of Everton swooping in for the Denmark international given their struggles up top this season.

With just one goal in the Premier League between the pair, Beto and Thierno Barry have been a wretched burden for David Moyes.

The Toffees have been clicking everywhere else on the pitch but their lack of a ruthless and clinical goalscorer could be the difference in whether they are pulled into a relegation battle.

Barry joined from Villarreal in the summer yet has only started two Premier League matches, despite the abysmal form of his striking counterpart.

Conversely, the Guinea-Bissau international has looked low on confidence for Everton, frequently snatching at chances as he seeks to end a goal drought stretching from the end of the August.

Osula’s six-foot-three stature plays perfectly into Moyes’ vision of his ideal striker who can hold up the ball and pin defenders back.

The 22-year-old also has the pace that his current forward options lack, making him a suitable target for the Merseyside outfit in January.
