Medical expert: This is when Christian Eriksen could make Brentford debut
Christian Eriksen could make his Brentford debut before the end of the month.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Brentford confirmed the signing of Eriksen on January deadline day, six months after he collapsed playing for Denmark at the Euros.
He has had an ICD implant fitted since that episode in Copenhagen and has been cleared to play in the Premier League.
As relayed by the Daily Mail on Tuesday (7 February) the 29-year-old playmaker has begun team training with the Bees.
And Dinnery predicts that an emotional return to first-team action could be just around the corner.
“Thomas Frank talked about how he has maintained those good levels of foundational fitness,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“We know he has been working with Ajax and their youth team and had his own personal trainer.
“That has made sure he is ticking over and in position to hit the ground running.
“However, there is no substitute for training in that competitive environment.
“Yes, he has experienced the Premier League before but he has been away for a couple of seasons. He has also had seven months away from football.
“It’s going to be difficult. But they must be fairly confident that he can play some part during the season run-in.
“There aren’t a lot of games left and it’s only a short-term deal, which gives you some indication.
“You’re hoping that he comes through those sessions without any issues and then you take it on a week-by-week basis.
“I think the end of February is fairly realistic to see Eriksen maybe get minutes from the bench. That would be good going.”

Eriksen, who has not played in the Premier League since leaving Tottenham in January 2020, was released by Inter Milan in December.
He has signed a contract with Brentford until the end of the season.
