Brighton's chances of blocking Fabian Hurzeler from joining Tottenham revealed
Brighton are hoping their progress in the Conference League will convince Fabian Hurzeler to stay, sources have told Football Insider.
The Seagulls have enjoyed an excellent start to the season so far, as they sit third in the Premier League having progressed in the League Cup and Conference League.
That has led to speculation about their manager's future, with top clubs in the Premier League and across Europe believed to be eyeing him in case they make changes.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Brighton have no plans to let Hurzeler leave and hope they will be able to tempt him to stay.
Having never won a major trophy in the club's existence, the South Coast club's aims for the coming season are clear as they aim to continue their fast start.
After Crystal Palace lifted last season's Conference League trophy in Leipzig, Brigthon now hope to follow in their rivals' footsteps, and believe it could tempt Hurzeler to stay.
How do Brighton feel about losing Fabian Hurzeler?
Football Insider revealed on 25 September that Brighton have no intention of allowing Hurzeler to leave the club despite the growing interest in his signature.
The 33-year-old signed a new contract in May to commit his long-term future to the South Coast club, with his new deal set to run unitl 2029.
Agreeing a new contract for the boss was designed by Brighton to deter any of his potential suitors, and there is a feeling that lifting silverware will consolidate their position.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Brighton do not want to lose Fabian Hurzeler. He's done a great job down on the south coast, he's really made big strides at Brighton.
"Obviously they finished eighth last year, qualified for the Europa Conference League and they really fancy their chances of doing well in that competition this year.
"If they can do that, they will feel they have a good chance of keeping hold of the manager, and having Hurzeler in charge will be a big boost in that respect.
"Hurzeler is attracting a lot of attention because of what he's done at Brighton with his aggressive style of football and an attacking style as well, so no surprise that other clubs are looking at him.
"But Brighton are quite relaxed on this one. He was rewarded for his progress with the new contract in May to keep him at the club until 2029.
"Brighton are planning for Hurzeler to remain at the club and they'll be hoping they can continue this fine start to the season for the rest of the campaign."
Which clubs are interested in landing Hurzeler?
Brighton's determination to keep Hurzeler comes amid growing interest from a number of clubs, not just in the Premier League but across European football as well.
Following their 3-0 win against Arsenal last time out, the boss has come in for major praise, but has also been spoken about in connection with bigger jobs in the Premier League.
Former Man United cheif scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that the Red Devils are big admirers of Hurzeler, while Tottenham are also keen on the 33-year-old.
With Michael Carrick and Roberto De Zerbi both facing intense scrutiny in their current roles, it may not be long before Man United or Spurs decide to pull the trigger.
While it remains to be seen whether Hurzeler could be tempted away from Brighton in the near future, and they do not want to lose him, clubs could explore the possibility.
