Sources: Man United impressed by Fabian Hurzeler but recognise one glaring deficiency
Man United have a growing admiration for Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler, sources have told Football Insider.
United's chiefs are impressed by the playing style implemented by the 33-year-old at the Seagulls, particularly their high energy and pressing.
They also recognise that his personality winds people up on the touchline, with Hurzeler previously being forced to defend his poor disciplinary record.
He has grown in stature since being handed the reins at the Amex Stadium, and is among the most highly rated bosses in the Premier League right now.
Third-placed Brighton lead the Premier League scoring charts with 16 goals from their five matches this season and also top the possession charts (64.8% average) while creating more big chances (22) and having more shots on target per match (5.8) than any other club.
United will prioritise a move to appoint Hurzeler if they see fit to sack Carrick in the coming months.
He is under pressure at Old Trafford after a poor start to the season, with Brighton beating the Red Devils 3-2 in the Carabao Cup last week.

Carrick has plenty of credit in the bank at United after guiding them to Champions League qualification as interim boss last season.
Things have not gone to plan since he was handed a two-year deal as their permanent boss in May, with United winning just two of their first seven games across all competitions so far this term.
He is not believed to be under immediate pressure, but is likely to be relieved of his duties if their poor form continues.
Hurzeler is the Red Devils' top target to replace Carrick if a decision is made, having led Brighton to third place in the top flight as it stands.
He is also believed to be on Tottenham's radar as they consider sacking Roberto De Zerbi following their own poor start to the campaign.

United's owners, INEOS, are reluctant to make a change in the dugout after spending a combined £31million to pay off Erik ten Hag, Ruben Amorim, and their respective coaching staff in the last two years.
While Carrick's own compensation fee will be relatively low in comparison, prising Hurzeler from Brighton will not come cheap.
Football finance expert Stefan Borson has revealed to Football Insider that appointing Hurzeler would cost United around £15m in compensation to the Seagulls.
